Clothing stores generally tag some items with the use of security tags as a measure against theft. If you try leaving a store with the security tag on the product you will either get caught due to the alarm that is released by the tag. There are some tags that also spill ink if you try removing them with making use of a security tag remover. Getting a product with the security tag on might not be an intentional action if your intentions are quite clear. Sometimes it happens by chance or due to the clerk’s inattentiveness at the checkpoint. If this happens then you would definitely require a security tag remover to get rid of the tag.
Methods of Removing Security Tags
There exists no magical method that can be used for the removal of security tags found generally on clothing and on small products. The best thing to do in this respect is getting back to the store, explaining the store officials about what had happened and getting the tag removed. It will not be a problem if you have the receipt of your purchase. The other alternatives that can be used if you are too lazy to go to the store include:
• Cut off the security tag with a wire cutter or a dremel. The best thing to do would be to invest some money is getting a dremel if you do not possess one because a wire cutter would not work very well in removing the security tag because wire cutters are generally too thick. All you can do is get a thin wire cutter if possible. Besides, a dremel is more effective but it will be a bit more costly.
• You can use rubber bands to remove the security tag. Basically what you need to do is envelop the rubber band around the pin of the tag until it loosens and then pull out the tag.
• For removing ink tags, you need to freeze the tag and the garment or the product and then rip the product open with some brute force. Frozen ink will not spill. Another great alternative is to cover the tag with a plastic bag and then tear it off. The only thing that you need to keep in mind is that you have to hit at the correct place.
Three Varieties of Hard Tag Removers
It is always very important that the hard Security Tag Remover matches up well with the tag type that you are willing to remove. The three basic varieties of hard tag removers include:
• Magnetic Remover • Ultramax Remover • Supertag Remover
The magnetic tag removers are basically used for removing the hard plastic security clothing tags. There are varying shapes and sizes available with these removers and the strength also differs. The basic designs in magnetic tag removers are Sensormatic, Knogo and Checkpoint and they are also known as detachers.
HOW TO REMOVE SECURITY TAG COMING FROM NEW TECHNOLOGIES
Nowadays, we are used to do shopping in big shopping centers, in huge stores. For us, the costumers, it is much better to shop into these big shops because of one simple reason: we find everything we want in one place and we do not have to run from one place to another. But, for the sellers it is really hard to control these shops because they are big and because hundreds of costumers visit the shop daily. Because of security, and to control the shop easier, the sellers use security tags on clothes.
We all know that the stores that use security tags, have special tools to remove the tags, but what if at they forget to remove the security tag from the clothes you bought?! At our houses we do not have those special tools to remove the security tags from the clothes, that’s why it may be harder to remove the tag without damaging the clothes. But there are some methods you can try at home that can help you remove the security tag safely and without damaging the new clothes.
Using rubber bands
The first method you can use to remove the security tag is by using rubber bands. This is a very efficient method that can help you to safely remove the tag. The first step you have to take is to place the ink cartridge of the tag face-down. The ink cartridge is the part of the tag that juts out of the plastic. It is placed on the opposite side of the pin. Then you should pull the part of the clothing with the tag away from the rest of the clothing. You should move it away so that the ink will not ruin the clothing if the sensor cracks. After this you have to slip the rubber band around the pin of the security tag. The rubber band you will use should be large and thick enough to be strong, but thin enough to fit around the pin, this is going to loosen the pin. Then you should hold the larger part of the ink tag with one hand and try to pull the pin off with the other hand. The pressure of the pins should be strong enough so that the pin will easily drag apart from the rest of the tag.
Using a screwdriver
The second method you can use is by using a screwdriver. The first thing you should do is to place the item with the security tag on the floor with the ink cartridge facing up. For this process you should use a thin flat head screwdriver and you should place it along the edge of the raised square pyramid. In order to pierce the plastic and pull it up you should press down hard. You have to continue to pop up the perimeter of the plastic and then remove the silver paper lining. By using the screwdriver you should lift one of the metal arms that holds the pin in place and slide the pin away from the tag. After this the pin should easily slide through the free hole and the tag will be removed.
Another method that you can use to remove security tags is by freezing the tag. You have to put into a freezer the item with the security tag on it. After it is frozen you should try to rip open the tag. You can use your hands, pliers, or the rubber band method. Because it is frozen, the ink will not spill everywhere.
Hit the tag
Another method you can use is to hit the tag. You should gently pull the tag away from the clothing several times, until it loosens the pin a bit. Then you should put a large nail in the ink cartridge, and then without applying too much force, repeatedly strike down on the ink cartridge until it pops open.
Security tag remover tip can also be used needle-nose pliers. First you have to hold the security tag with the ink cartridge side up. Then you need to grip one of the sides of the rectangular tag with a pair of pliers. And with a different pair of pliers grip the other side of the tag. After doing that, gently bend each side of the tag down using the pliers, but be careful not to bend too hard because the tag will crack in half and spill ink everywhere. You should keep bending until it pops open.
You can also try using brute force for electro-magnet tags, since nowadays many modern tags do not use ink but they actually contain and electro-magnet.
